In The Heart takes its title from Carlos Bulosan's novel America is in the Heart. In The Heart because we pay homage to Bulosan as an early APA writer who wrote from the heart about the experiences of early Asian/Pacific immigrants. In The Heart because it is there in the deepest recesses of our lives that our dreams for ourselves and for America survive whether they come true or not. In The Heart because it is this writing that recognizes no barriers and allows us to celebrate our differences as Asian/Pacific Americans. And finally In The Heart because these works come straight from the heart; sometime raw, sometimes refined, but always honest.
