Mimi and Michael are trying to have successful sex after a few days of failures and conflicts.
26 INT. COTTAGE BEDROOM - NIGHT 26
Michael and Mimi are in naked in bed, kissing and caressing,
putting a lot of energy into it.
Suddenly Michael rolls on top of Mimi and starts to enter
her. But he has a little difficulty getting inside her.
MIMI
Stop. Do it gently.
MICHAEL
Do you want me to stop?
MIMI
No. Just do it gently.
Mimi looks as if she feels a little discomfort as Michael
tries to work his way inside her. A second later Michael
puts his hand to his mouth and transfers some saliva to
their genitals.
Finally Michael is inside Mimi and starts pumping his hips
slowly inside her. The two make little sex noises and seem
to be getting into the spirit of things.
Later, the two lie in bed. Michael is on his back, and Mimi
lies partly on top of him, caressing his hair. They seem
more relieved than happy.
MICHAEL
Well....
MIMI
Well?
MICHAEL
I feel as if we passed the exam.
MIMI
Ohhh. Don't say that.
MICHAEL
On the third or fourth try.
MIMI
Well, was it fun?
MICHAEL
Ummm.... yeah, I think so.
MIMI
(a little bothered)
Hmmm.
MICHAEL
I'm sorry I didn't last longer.
MIMI
You don't have to be sorry. It was
fine.
There is a pause.
MICHAEL
I don't know. I was thinking so
much about doing it that maybe I
forgot to enjoy it.
MIMI
Oh.
MICHAEL
I was feeling a little detached, I
must admit. Weren't you?
MIMI
Um - maybe.
Mimi lies next to Michael She seems distressed now.
Michael turns to look at her and sees that there is a
problem.
MICHAEL
It's natural that we were a little
awkward this time.
MIMI
(still cheerless)
Okay.
MICHAEL
Mimi. Don't feel bad. Look at me.
But she doesn't.
MICHAEL
(cont.)
Mimi.
MIMI
What?
MICHAEL
It was fun. Sex is fun even when
it's not perfect.
Mimi takes a deep breath, trying to calm herself.
MIMI
Michael, stop talking about it.
Michael is getting a little grim too.
MICHAEL
We're making an issue where there
doesn't have to be one.
MIMI
Well, why did you bring it up then?
MICHAEL
What?
MIMI
You didn't have to mention it.
MICHAEL
(hesitating)
I didn't think I was....
(pause)
I just wanted to say something about
it. I didn't want to bring you
down. I thought it would be
something we could talk about.
MIMI
Maybe it's better not to talk about
every little thing.
MICHAEL
I guess not.
Both Michael and Mimi are upset now.
