PRINT PUBLICATION TERMS AND FEES courtesy Amalyah Keshet, The Israel Museum
Thank you for your inquiry. The Visual Resources Dept. is the photographic services and copyright licensing bureau of the Museum. All requests for the licensing of visual material in connection with the Museum's collection are handled by this office.
Color transparencies and black-and-white photographs of works of art in the Museum's varied collections are available for hire. Reproduction rights are charged per use & per size. A loan fee of $x-$y is charged per transparency, depending on the nature and size of the order. Special search fees are $x/hour. If more than 10 images are used, a 20% discount applies to reproduction rights fees. Delivery charges are extra. Special photographic work can be arranged; the cost of creating a color transparency on special order is $x.

Loan of transparencies is for a maximum of 3 months, unless extended by agreement.
Prepayment is required. ("On spec" orders can be arranged under special circumstances if a deposit is arranged.)
Delivery is usually within 4-6 weeks of receipt of order; large orders may take longer. At present, we are dealing with a backup of orders, and apologize in advance if we are unable to adhere to the above time-schedule. It is advisable to place orders as far in advance as possible.
If 20% or more of the illustrations included in the book are from the Museum, a royalties arrangement should be made with Museum Products, our publishing and commercial branch. The usual arrangement is 10% of the print run in relation to the amount of our material appearing in the book -- e.g. for 20% of total illustrations, 2% of the print run is supplied free of cost to Museum Products for sale in our bookshops. This is in lieu of payment per use for reproduction rights.
Loan fees, holding fees, special photography, or other service fees and delivery charges, will be billed by Visual Resources for processing the order.
In order to facilitate curatorial authorization for the use of images of objects from our collection in your publication, we often need the following information and details: credentials of the author, outline of the text, proposed character and lay-out the book, the way in which collections information will be presented, or anything else you can tell us about the publication.
Thank you and we look forward to working with you.
