  The AR8000 is a unique Handheld scanning receiver from Japan. The closest consumer product is the Yupiteru which is much simpler to use. The AR8000 is not for everyone. If you can't set the clock on a VCR don't even think about buying an AR8000 which has a street price of around $650 in the USA.   AR8000 ToolKit is a nifty shareware program from EddyWorks (a subsidiary of The Eccentricity Group) which allows you to use your Macintosh to program your AOR AR8000 scanner exactly the way you want it -- without having to use dials and tiny keys! In addition, it allows you to access areas of the AR8000's memory that are not available from the keypad, such as the 'Auto'-mode bandplan table. Of course, it also allows you to enter and edit bank information (including the seven-character frequency tags!), print frequency lists, and much more!
