DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is the name of a set of new phone
services that offer very high bandwidth, over standard copper phone
wire, at a small fraction of the cost of comparable "leased lines".
In simple terms, DSL is much like getting a T1 on a regular phone
line!
DSL comes in a number of flavors. Panix Business Express is SDSL
(Symmetrical DSL), the most versatile member of the DSL service
family. SDSL features equal upload/download speeds from 192 Kbps
(just above ISDN) to 1.5 Mbps (T1 speeds) with a large coverage area,
for a wide variety of applications.
The performance of SDSL is especially impressive in networks that
include server traffic.
Advantages of Panix Business Express DSL:
- more "band" for your buck
SDSL delivers speeds up to 1.5 Mbps (over 8 times faster than
dual-channel ISDN, and over 20 times faster than a typical "56K"
modem), at a tremendously lower cost than comparable "fractional
T1" lines.
- no connect-time rationing
An SDSL link is a dedicated line, so you don't have to worry
about busy signals, local phone network routing problems, or
per-minute charges. Your connection is always up!
- your Internet link grows as your business
grows
Panix Business Express DSL is available in packages featuring
bandwidth from 192 Kbps to
1.5 Mbps. You can start small and upgrade your connection as
your needs increase, using the same lines and hardware.
