Leased-Line Hardware and Add-Ons:

Pre-configured Hardware:
In order to use a dedicated connection to the Internet you need a router and a CSU/DSU. If you don't want to shop for hardware yourself, Panix offers pre-configured hardware ready for installation at your site. Please inquire at corp-ip@panix.com.

Optional DSL Backup:
Panix offers special rates for sDSL circuits for use as backup for your T3. If your T3 fails for any reason, your router can automatically and immediately fail over to a backup sDSL connection, with speeds ranging from 192k to full T1 bandwidth. Of course, as soon as your T3 comes back up, the router will switch back to it.

Panix will set up your routing so the switch will be seamless: you won't need our intervention to activate the backup.

For prices, see our sDSL Backup Rates page.

Domain Name Service (DNS) for Additional Domains:
Panix will provide primary and/or secondary DNS for up to 16 domain names, at no additional charge to T3 subscribers. If you have more domain names, and don't want to run your own nameserver, Panix can handle your other DNS needs as well.
Primary DNS: $50/year per additional domain
Secondary DNS: $25/year per additional domain

Individual Mailboxes
For your users to receive email from the Internet directly, your network must contain an SMTP-based mail server.

If you'd rather not run your own mail server, we can provide your users with individual mailboxes on Panix. Mail can be retrieved from these mailboxes using POP, IMAP or webmail. Spam-filtering and anti-virus blocking are available, and easily configured through our webmail system.
Mailboxes: $5/month ($50/year prepaid) per mailbox
Block of 10 Mailboxes: $20/month ($200/year prepaid) for 10 mailboxes
A separate mailbox is required for each person using this method.

Local Loop Info

T3 costs have two components - a charge for the physical line (known as the "local loop") which connects you to us, and a charge for the bandwidth that you want to use on the line (which can range from 3 Mbps to 45 Mbps). The bandwidth fees are listed above.

The local loop is usually delivered by the phone company, but some locations are also served by other carriers (such as Time Warner or Level3). Other carriers are usually cheaper than the phone company, and easier to deal with as well.

For most locations in Manhattan, local loop prices will vary from $800 to $2000 monthly. Unless your building is served by alternate carriers, expect a minimum of $1500. Locations outside Manhattan are usually more expensive.

If you would like a quote that includes the local loop, please send email to corp-ip@panix.com. Please include a phone number phyically at your location, the full address, and include the suite or office number.
