As Alexis said in his notice of June 1, we realize that the mail server
problem last Thursday caused hardship and inconvenience to some users,
while others scarcely noticed it Although there is no service guarantee
on shell accounts or email at Panix or at other providers, because some
of you were adversely affected, and because it was the second such
inconvenience in less than a month, we are offering three days' shell
account credit to all affected users who feel they deserve it.
The affected users are those who have mailboxes in the panix.com domain.
Mailboxes in other domains did not suffer the extended outage. Mailing
addresses (aliases) in other domains that forward to panix.com addresses
are eligible for the credit, one credit per affected panix address (not
per alias).
To claim your credit, just send email to
credit@panix.com
by June 20. Be sure to provide your Panix login(s) so that we can
credit you properly.
We'll apply all credits after the deadline, so if you receive a
statement in the meantime, it won't reflect the credit.
