As of today, MegaPop (national dialup) users will have to rely on mail
authentication (POP before SMTP or IMAP before SMTP) to send mail.
We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you, but we're responding
to several recent spam incidents that have used Panix's mail servers from
Megapop dialups. It appears that we cannot rely on Megapop to prevent
non-Panix customers from using our mail servers (as we initially thought
we could).
