Based on the latest research emerging from Australia, this diet plan is the first of its kind, written for U.S. consumers with IBS or fructose intolerance. It covers the chemistry of food with an emphasis on the various fermentable sugars and how they can create havoc in the digestive system for some, e.g. raffinose, lactose, fructose, sorbitol, starches, sulfur, inulin/FOS, caffeine, soluble/insoluble fiber. Includes: menus and a matching shopping list, label reading tips, lists of allowed foods, and tips for including all of your favorite foods in your diet. book icon Self Help Way To Treat Colitis and Other IBS Conditions, Second Edition by DeLamar Giddons tells which foods to avoid and which foods are ok. Basically he has you remove from the diet all sugar, fruit (because of fructose) and milk.
book icon The Irritable Bowel Syndrome Solution: How It's Cured at the IBS Treatment Center by Stephen Wangen, the founder and Chief Medical Officer of the IBS Treatment Center. This book explains the 'normal' digestive process and problems that can arise in that system (like diarrhea and constipation). Then he describes the common medical approaches ('Treating the Symptoms, Ignoring the Cause') for 'IBS' symptoms. That section describes the typical journey of misdiagnoses and dead ends, which many celiacs take before getting a correct celiac disease diagnosis. Next he discusses the common causes of 'IBS' symptoms, which include celiac disease, food allergies and 'bugs' (such as bacteria imbalances, yeast and parasites). Finally he tells how he determines what causes a patient's symptoms and the appropriate treatment to eliminate those symptoms.
book icon Recipes for IBS: Great-Tasting Recipes and Tips Customized for Your Symptoms (Healthy Living Cookbooks) by Ashley Koff. The diet is high in fruit, vegetables, beans and pulses, which the book argues will cure IBS-Diarrhea. The author uses real ingredients (instead of the processed foods that are on most supermarket shelves). These are ingredients you will have to go to a natural foods store to buy, or go online. The recipes extend beyond just bland foods, allowing the reader to eat a "normal" diet, such as comfort foods like macaroni and cheese and shepherd's pie, baked goods like brownies and pumpkin pie, as well as other sweets like ice cream and smoothies. The book features full-color illustrations, a color coding for symptoms, and patient testimonials. Reviews are mixed and average to 3 stars.
book icon Healthy Cooking for IBS: 100 Delicious Recipes to Keep You Symptom Free by Sophie Braimbridge is a gorgeous publication with pictures and recipes of scrumptious foods; however, there is little genuine substance about IBS or helpful remedies. And the book features nothing but recipes using dairy, gluten (wheat) and even alcohol. These are three of the biggest triggers for IBS sufferers. The ratings are low. Do not buy.
book icon Dynamic Diet: A Dietary Guide And Workbook For Patients With Irritable Bowel Syndrome by Ashkan Farhadi and Kelly Wyckoff is designed to improve your overall knowledge about various aspects of your diet in Irritable Bowel Syndrome and to help you explore your dietary choices to build your own diet that best suits your condition.
