The
Asia Society provides a forum in several locations around the
U.S. and in Asia for cultural, policy and business events. |
The original
site was launched in 1997 and was online until December 2000.
Before launching the Web site
research showed that their audience wanted most to find
out about upcoming events. So it was decided that the event calendar on their site
would occupy a prominent place.

In 1997
I recommended that the Asia Society take the leadthinking
beyond the boundaries of the instituionand provide a nation-wide
calendar of Asia-related events regardless of whether they were
"Asia Society" events or not.
Why? Because the visitors
to the site would quickly come to think of the Asia Society
as authoritative and comprehensive without requiring the Asia
Society to produce and maintain expensive content. Their site
would become the place to go online for Asia-related event information
just as Yahoo! became the place to go for searching the Web.
The site's design was created by Real Design, Inc., using the identity program
developed by Pentagram Design.
