This was my daily carry for years and years. It originally was a
friend's muskrat he had lost and re-found a year later in his horse
corral. The blades were Case's chrome-vanadium steel and pretty
much shot. :-) The springs were stainless and still like new tho'.
The double ended spring needed for the extra blade was made from
an original butt spring by hacksawing and filing the butt spring down.
The clip blade is from a 6392 and had a broken tip, so it was too
short for the 4" 6392 and even a little too short for this repaired
3+7/8" "47 pattern" too, but "made-do" with it anyway. :-)
It's an early attempt to repair pocket knives and has several
mistakes in it. It has my first "cold treated" pocket knife blades
in it too. Didn't know if they were going to be too fragile, so tested
them first myself, in this knife.
I still use this knife quite a bit and that 66+HRC sheepsfoot blade
has cut a lot of stuff! :) Including a lot of used carpet and the spey
blade has stripped a lot of wire too. The extra hardness has slowed
the wear-rate by ten times?
