Prometheus welcomes you *:-)-~

A quick note to chance visitors: my page was created to have a forum for sharing my stuff with my far-flung friends, like my vaccation journal and photos. But, of course you're welcome here... well, technically speaking, at this moment it makes no difference to me -- you can only actually be welcome if you let me know you were here. And while you're at it, tell me how you wound up here.

So, welcome, my page is yours, grab a beer, look around. The links around here diverge a bit -- I spent a bunch of time contemplating the nature of hypertext and how one should make full use of the particular strengths it has to present information blah blah blah before I laid out this page.

Also, since I suppose you could consider html a hobby for me, comments and constructive criticism on my page are always welcome.

NEW! Avery's Cross-Country Extrrrravaganzaaaaa!!!

Yes, I've been talking about it for so long, and it's finally come down to it. I'll be traveling all around North America for 3 months starting June 4th or 5th, and I'll tour hopefully till Setember 1st. I'm keeping a sort of live photojournal, and I hope to upload to the site every 3 days or so. Follow the above link to check up on my progress.

There are two organizations that I want to call everyone's attention to, and hence they are on the topmost layer of my pages.

Panix Home
Page
Panix, in addition to what you may find at the website, is an Internet Service Provider that I'm proud to be a part of. Not just any ISP, Panix was the third place in the country where you could get an internet account if you didn't work at a university or for the government. Founded in 1989 by my older brother Alexis and Jim Baumbach, panix.com began its life as a MacIIx, and a hobby. Panix started charging its users in January 1991, added a live internet connection that year (before then you couldn't get a real-time internet connection, you had to be on the Usenet). In 1992, Panix incorporated and got a 56k connection, and on December 31 of that year, brought up the Sparc that all of Panix soon was running on. In the past years, Panix, while becomming relatively more obscure among a sea of fledgeling ISPs, has remained one of the most cutting edge and influential entities evolving the internet.

In other words, you may not have heard of Panix, but if you haven't, it means you don't really know the internet. And you can consider that a boast.

Zete Home Page
Zeta Delta Xi is a local co-ed fraternity at Brown University, of which I am a brother. Under the spiritual guidance of Wile E. Coyote, we try to "have a good time, all the time", treat everyone nice, and generally kick ass. Our main guidline (and this is for those of you who read the above and conjure up images of anal chugging and sheep fucking) is to not do anything that goes against your morals, nature, religion, or good judgement... well, that last one is open to interpretation sometimes, but hopefully you get the picture. Believe me, I wouldn't, say, jack off onto a cracker for a million bucks, let alone to join a brootherhood. Ok, so a million dollars is a lot of money -- but I wouldn't do it for less, ok?
ShopWiki Is where I work now. We crawl the entire web and index every product that's for sale on it, and consumers can search for the best deal.
