This is just an area where I dump things for retrieval by others. Things in this directory may or may not be listed in this index.

I'm not putting an email address or a mailto: link in here, for reasons that ought to be pretty obvious. If you'd like to mail me, I hope you can infer my address from the URL you used to get here.

Current contents:

• check_disks.ksh - a script to monitor the health of DiskSuite and/or Veritas Volume Manager metadevices / volumes and alert the admin with a short message (as for a pager) if anything is wrong
• Some ksh code for managing a single ssh-agent instance on each of a given set of hosts -- the idea is that you put this in your .kshrc file and it either invokes ssh-agent, or points your shell to the currently running instance thereof, as appropriate (more info is available in the comments)
• The famous "The Coup" WTC blowup album cover (smaller than the original to save bandwidth -- if you really want the full-size one, write me)
• comix - a script to grab a few of my favorite comics from the appropriate web sites and display them (via xli) in an X window; it's an ugly hack but it works fine, at least on my Solaris system
• The MIR from the Kara Hultgreen F-14 mishap on October 25th, 1994
• A story I find amusing
• My adaptation of the classic "ONLY WAY TO COOK A TURKEY" article generally attributed to Robert Benchley's edited manuscript of Morton Thompson's original recipe. Make this turkey once and you'll never be able to cook one the regular way again.
• My sister's (former) big cat, a lynx rufus ("bobcat") who has since been given away
• A really lovely moment in the history of anti-American protests
• My favorite Christmas carol, performed in French. Distributed with the permission of the label, Caravage.
