Basilisk was foaled in 1876, a Seglawieh Jedranieh of Ibn el Derri of the Resallin tribe of Sebaa Anazeh. She stood 14.1. She was purchased by the Blunts in 1878, and imported to England, where she became one of the foundation mares of the Crabbet Stud.
