The latest version of the Secure CRT JFW scripts is 1.0, released on March 2, 2004 and tested with Secure CRT version 3.4.4.
This page contains scripts and information for using JAWS for Windows with Secure CRT, a program used to connect to terminal-based systems.
Secure CRT is often used when connectting to accounts on Unix-based systems. These scripts speak incoming text which is received from such systems. Because they rely on window classes rather than frames, they will work "out of the box" on a wider variety of computers regardless of the screen resolution used. While these scripts were tested with a relatively old version of the program (it's what I have), they should work with newer versions as well. If you experience problems, please let me know.
| Name | Version | Release Date |
|---|---|---|
| Secure CRT JFW Scripts | 1.0 | March 2, 2004 |
After downloading the zip file which contains the scripts, extract it to your jaws scripts directory, which should be something like c:\jaws50\settings\enu. These scripts should work with any relatively recent version of JAWS for Windows.
These scripts were developed using JAWS 5.00.812 as it is probably the most widely used version at the present time.
Please follow these steps to configure Secure CRT for greatest accessibility.
The scripts provide the following command.
| Key | Description |
|---|---|
| Ctrl+Shft+R | Toggle speaking of incoming text |
Because the scripts rely on window classes rather than static frames, it is possible to change the size of the window and still have all incoming text spoken. If the window is restored, it has 24 rows and 80 columns by default. If the window is maximized, 81 rows and 132 columns are visible to the JAWS cursor.
