Sepia pharonis (Cuttlefish) Characteristics
Commercially important cuttlefish from Indo-West Pacific. Stripes on dorsum distinct. Tentacular club with 8 rows of suckers of which central 7-8 larger than the others. Shell oval and carries thick callus over the inner cone. Trawled in large quantity in the Arabic Sea. Spawns in March-May in Hong Kong, but August-October in the Red Sea and almost year around in India.
