6 cups shredded cabbage
2 medium carrots, grated
1 small onion, chopped fine
1 small green pepper, chopped fine
½ cup vinegar
1 teaspoon celery seed
¼ teaspoon mustard seed
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup salad oil
1 3 ounce package lemon-flavored gelatin
½ cup water
1 cup sugar, or less, to taste
Pour oil over chopped vegetables and set aside. Heat water, vinegar, celery seed, mustard seed, salt and sugar. Add gelatin and stir well until dissolved. Cool and pour over vegetables. Chill and store covered in refrigerator.
