Reuben Burgers

Servings: 4

1 small onion, sliced
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1 pound lean ground beef (or turkey)
4 slices rye bread
½ to 1 pound sauerkraut (can or bag)
4 slices Swiss cheese

Sauté the onion slices in butter or margarine; set aside. Shape ground beef into four patties; fry to desired doneness. Place hamburger patties on bread slices. Top burgers with sauerkraut, onion, and cheese. Broil until cheese is melted. Serve with Thousand Island dressing or pickle slices if desired.
