The Northwest Blue-Onion Burger

Recipe from: Washington State Beef Commission

1 pound lean ground beef
splash of Worcestershire
1 teaspoon Johnny's Seasoning salt mix.
4 ounces Oregon blue cheese
2 Walla Walla sweet onions, sliced ½ inch thick
desired condiments

Gently combine beef, Worcestershire sauce and seasoning salt mix in large bowl.

Divide mixture into 4 equal patties. Grill patties, uncovered, over medium heat, turning occasionally, to medium doneness (160°F internal temperature). Check for doneness with an instant read thermometer or cook until juices run clear and there is no pink left in the center of the patties.

Place slices of Walla Walla onions on grill. Cook until begin to soften, turning once.

Before removing burgers from the grill, top each with 1 ounce blue cheese and allow cheese to melt.

Serve on buns toasted over grill flame, onion buns are recommended. Garnish burgers with assorted condiments including: BBQ sauce, A1 sauce, ketchup, yellow mustard, Dijon mustard, mayo, pickles, sliced tomatoes, and crisp lettuce.
