Cajun Chicken over Rice

Recipe from: Louise Austin

This recipe is from my aunt, Louise Austin, from the cookbook, What's Cooking with FLO?, favorite bayou country recipes of FLO (For Ladies Only) from the First Baptist Church in Napoleonville, Louisiana published in 1990.

1½ pound boneless chicken breast halves, cut into 1 inch pieces
⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
5 large tomatoes, peeled and chopped
2 large onions, chopped
1 large green pepper, chopped
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup soy sauce
1 to 2 teaspoons pepper
1 teaspoon dried whole basil
1 teaspoon dried whole marjoram
1 teaspoon dried whole oregano
hot cooked rice

Sprinkly chicken with garlic powder; set aside. Combine tomatoes and remaining ingredients, except rice, in a large Dutch oven. Boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Add chicken and return to a boil. Cover; reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes or until tender. Serve over cooked rice.
