California Chili

Recipe from: McIlhenny Company, makers of Tabasco Sauce
Servings: 6 to 8

2 pounds ground beef
2 medium onions, chopped
1 bell pepper, diced
2 cloves garlic, diced
4 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon each of salt, paprika, oregano and ground cumin
1 to 2 teaspoon Tabasco Sauce
1 teaspoon instant coffee powder
1 8 ounce can tomato sauce
1 16 ounce can tomatoes
1 cup water

In large, heavy saucepan or skillet, brown beef, adding onions, bell peppers and garlic. Cook until the meat is browned and vegetables are tender. Add chili powder, salt, paprika, oregano, ground cumin, Tabasco, coffee, tomato sauce, tomatoes and water. Stir to mix well. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer uncovered 45 minutes or until thickened.
