Super Bowl Chili

1 pound lean ground beef
1 pound ground pork
2 15 ½ ounce cans kidney beans
1 28 ounce can tomatoes, cut up
2 large onions, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 to 3 cloves garlic, minced
1 to 3 tablespoon chili powder
2 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper
1 to 3 tablespoon wine vinegar
½ to 1 teaspoon ground cumin (I use smaller amount for milder chili; larger amount for hot chili.)
1 cup cheese, shredded
dairy sour cream

In 4 quart Dutch oven brown beef and pork. Drain off excess fat. Add undrained kidney beans, tomatoes, onions, peppers and spices. Simmer uncovered for 1 hour or longer. Stir frequently to avoid scorching. Ladle into bowls. Spoon cheese and sour cream over each serving.
