Recipe from: Silvar Beitel
Servings: about 1 quart
This stuff is absolutely killer with cheese balls made from very sharp Cheddar cheese or a nice Gorgonzola (I made one of each), served at room temperature, of course, with crackers/toasts of your choice.
1¾ cups sugar
½ cup cider vinegar
⅔ cup chopped onions
½ cup raisins
½ teaspoon ground allspice
1½ tablespoon finely grated ginger root
12 ounce package cranberries
½ cup chopped walnuts
In sauce pan, combine all ingredients except cranberries and nuts, bring to a boil, and cook until sugar is dissolved. Add cranberries and cook on medium heat for 10 minutes or until cranberries have popped. Add nuts, stir and remove from heat. Cool.
