Spicy French Dips

Servings: 6

5 pounds beef chuck
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 cup onion, slices thick
8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
4 cups water
5 teaspoons beef base
salt and pepper
flour (for coating beef)
1 teaspoon marjoram, basil, thyme
¼ teaspoon cayenne

Salt and pepper beef. Coat with flour and sear all sides. Place all ingredients in crock pot. Cook on low 10 hours.

Remove meat to plate and shred. Remove onions and mushrooms and set aside. Strain broth off of the solids and fat. Thicken broth if desired on stove with cornstarch mixed in water. Toast bread on inside under broiler. Pile beef high in bread, top with onion and mushrooms, Serve with broth.
