30 to 40 large mushrooms, stems removed
1 stick unsalted butter, melted
1 pound bulk sausage
½ cup fresh bread crumbs, toasted
½ cup pizza or spaghetti sauce, can be either homemade or store bought
1 egg
Mozzarella cheese, cut into thin squares to fit the top of the mushrooms
Brown the sausage, drain off all of the grease.
Clean the mushrooms, dip into the melted butter, place them in a baking dish. Mix all of the ingredients except the cheese, stuff the mushrooms, place a square of cheese on top of each mushroom. Drizzle the remaining melted butter over the mushrooms. Bake at 350°l for 30 minutes.
