Recipe from: Merle 1
Servings: About 3 cups
My father-in-law had a Cantina called Gomez in downtown Nuevo Laredo for 40 years. This is one of the recipes exactly. It's very hot to some so when you use it adjust the amount you put on your food. The bars like it hot because then you will drink more.
1 pound fresh jalapeño
3 medium tomatoes
1 medium onion
6 sprigs cilantro
½ teaspoon salt
Char jalapeños, tomatoes, and onion until turning black in either a grill, broiler or dry skillet. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend. Add water to bring salsa to the consistency you want. Add salt to taste.
