several cups of okra
self-rising cornmeal
1 large egg
½ cup milk
oil in a cast iron skillet.
salt and pepper, to taste.
Slice the okra in pieces. Discard the tip and the stem. Beat the egg and the milk with a fork in a bowl. In another bowl place the cornmeal. Dredge the okra in the egg and milk and then the cornmeal. Then fry in a skillet, preferably cast iron. Turn over after a few minutes, and fry on the other side. Salt and pepper to taste.
