Recipe from: agape731
This is my Grandma's recipe for green beans. Very easy to make and very good.
2 pounds green beans fresh
2 tablespoon olive oil
4 garlic cloves
1 teaspoon sugar or sugar substitute
1 cup water
salt and pepper to taste
Cut ends of beans. Put oil in a large fry pan, on low heat. Add chopped garlic and sauté until tan — Do not burn. Slowly add 1 cup water and sugar (or substitute) to the sautéd garlic, stirring frequently. Pour water mixture into a bowl, stir well and set aside. Add green beans to the frying pan and then pour water and sugar mixture over green beans. Try to cover all the beans by slowly pouring over the top of the beans. When water begins to boil, cover pan with lid and turn heat down to medium. Don't let water get too low, even if you must add a little more. Let beans steam for about 15 minutes. Taste test and add salt and pepper to your liking.
