This is not a "red" French dressing, but more of a classic French dressing. I particularly like the flavor of walnut oil in this dressing. It is excellent as a base for potato salad as well as a tossed salad.
Vinegar can be substituted for lemon juice; other oils can be substituted for walnut oil. The flavor, of course, will be different.
6 tablespoons walnut oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
½ teaspoon Dijon mustard
½ teaspoon salt
dash black pepper
