Gỏi Đu Đủ (Green Papaya Salad)

Servings: 2

For the Salad:
4 cups shredded green papaya or jícama to substitute
1 cup beef jerky1, chopped into bite-size strips
½ cup crushed peanuts
½ cup chopped cilantro
juice of 1 lime

For the Dressing:
all ingredients to taste
nước mắm (fish sauce)
rice vinegar
chili sauce

Mix all of the ingredients for the dressing, according to your taste. Don't be thrown off by the nước mắm (fish sauce) — It imparts a wonderful flavor. Spoon out dressing on the bottom of the plate. On it, layer the papaya, beef jerky, peanuts, cilantro and splash the top of the salad with lime juice.


1 Traditionally made with Thịt Bò Khô, but good store-bought beef jerky may be substituted.
