2 tablespoons sate paste
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced into bite-size pieces
bamboo skewers, soaked for 20 minutes and drained, optional
1 medium yellow onion, peeled and sliced into thin wedges, optional
Mix the sate paste and oil in a bowl and add the beef. Mix well so all the pieces are evenly coated. Depending on how long the skewers are, slide 2 to 4 slices of meat onto each skewer, alternating with onion wedges if using. Grill over a barbecue — Make sure flames have subsided and the coals are red with white ashes) until the meat is cooked through and crisp at the edges, about 3 minutes per side.
