$50 Federal Reserve Note Reverse Side

The reverse of the $50 Federal Reserve Note displays a view of the east side of the U.S. Capitol. On the bottom left side of the upper image, numerous 1920-style automobiles are parked in front of the Capitol. Series 1963 A included the National Motto and the resulting design change removed the parked cars (see middle image).

Series 1996 radically changed the reverse of the $50 Federal Reserve Note — The vignette of the U.S. Capitol is a view from the west side. Earlier notes featured a vignette of the Capitol viewed from the east side (see bottom image).
