UniMail is a fully integrated mailer and browsers for Unix shell accounts. This means it is very compact and requires very little heap memory compared to Newton Internet Enabler (NIE) based mail solutions. UniMail also is the only Internet mailer for Newton 1.x machines. It supports all Newton devices except for the Original MessagePad and Sharp ExpertPad. UniMail is only for Shell accounts meaning that it cannot be used with PPP or SLIP dial-up. But users whose Internet Service Provider offers Shell dialup or have access to direct serial connections will find UniMail to be one of the fastest ways to do their mail on the run without the overhead that comes with other mail connections.
