A non-profit Jewish community center offering recreational, educational, cultural and social services to enhance the quality of life in the central Queens community. The Y is an agency of UJA-Federation and is funded in part by United Way.
City Harvest
Established in 1982, City Harvest has a simple mission: to help end hunger by "harvesting" food that otherwise would be wasted, and distributing it to agencies feeding the hungry. City Harvest receives food donations from such sources as supermarkets, corporate cafeterias, restaurants, and catered affairs. A fleet of seven refrigerated trucks picks up excess food and delivers it to soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, and social service agencies. All donated food is given free to these non-profit groups. In turn, they must distribute it free to their clients.
CityKids
The CityKids Foundation, a ten-year old, not-for-profit, national multi-cultural organization based in New York, is dedicated to the survival of today's youth. CityKids provides young people with a safe space to discuss issues facing them in their world today, leadership training, and a forum for self-expression through the performing arts.

Each summer, 10,000 children escape the heat and stress of the city to visit volunteer host families in 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada or The Fund's five camps in Fishkill, New York.
Friends of Jerome Park Reservoir
Located in the north west Bronx, the Friends of Jerome Park Reservoir is a grass roots organzation formed to preserve and protect our community. NYC Department of Environmental Protection planned to build an industrial water filtration plant in the reservoir, which is across the street from 50,000 residents, and 25,000 students. Jerome Park is the only remaining distribution reservoir for the Croton Watershed (recently the Central Park reservoir was taken off line). The Ladies Pavilion Central Park, New York City: A Brief History
The cast-iron shelter at Hernshead in Central Park known as the Ladies Pavilion was designed by Jacob Wrey Mould in 1871 to serve as a shelter for trolley passengers at the Eighth Avenue and 59th Street park entrance.
