NYPD Frequencies.

New Frequencies
NYPD is testing approximately 15 new frequencies in the 482.300 to 482.8875 range which are supposed to come on-line during the summer.
New Radio Scheme
We've heard a rumor when the radio dispatch section of the Communications Division moves to MetroTech Center in Brooklyn in the near future, the entire division radio scheme is supposed to be overhauled. Instead of the current 25 or so "consoles", each dispatching 3 or 4 precincts each, the number of consoles will increase to 56, thus giving some of NYPD's 76 precincts their very own frequency.
New Divisions
Ed Muro reports that NYPD is re-aligning some of it's divisions. One such change is the creation of the Traffic Control Division which is now the command for HWY 1 ( Manhattan / Bronx), HWY 2 ( B'klyn), HWY 3 ( Queens). Also, a HWY 4 has been created consisting of 100 motorcycles stationed in Manhattan to work on special operations to reduce grid-lock and traffic congestion problems. There is also a Surface Traffic Enforcement District under their command. All communications are now being conducted on the Citywide 3 frequency of 470.8625 ( Ch 12 on SABRE Patrol radios and Ch 4 on older HT 220's.)
470.8375 is now strictly for the Special Operations Division and the Emergency Service Bureau.
