KANSAS CITY, Mo., Jan. 5 (Reuters) -- A 26-year-old Kansas man cut his right eyeball from its socket because, he said, it contained a satanic symbol, the authorities said today.
The man, who was not identified, told paramedics that he had seen a pentagram, a five-pointed star often associated with the occult, in the eye.
He popped the eyeball from his head and used a knife to sever the connecting muscles and tendons before flushing it down the toilet, said Bill Lietzke, a spokesman for the Police Department in Merriam, a Kansas City suburb.
