Blade - D
Viewed August 21 at Sony Lincoln Square

An ugly, joyless movie; Blade is more interested in showing off both new creative ways to use computers to distort human flesh (I'll take my human- flesh-distortion Plympton-style, thanks) and Wesley Snipes' martial arts skills, which apparently consists of striking "cool" poses. If this was just a dumb Van Damme-type film, I might be more forgiving; but there's such a great wealth of ideas in the background that the movie's constant pandering to fanboy types is infuriating. Did like that oddly sped-up car chase near the beginning, though.
