Desert Blue - C+

Desert Blue is a film that makes me want to throw my hands up in the air and admit defeat as a critic : there is simply very little here that I care enough about to discuss. It's not a bad movie (it's actually mildly pleasant viewing, hence the C+), but one week after seeing it, I can't remember one thing that's either praiseworthy or deserving of scorn. The cast (which includes such indie luminaries as Christina Ricci and Brandon Sexton III) don't do anything to embarrass themselves, but there's nothing here that are highlights on their resumes, either. OK, one thing : Morgan J. Freeman does get the laid-back, doing nothing feel of very small-town life down pat. Come to think of it, that may be part of the film's problem...
