From: dot.sm.r08.nysdot To: danielc@panix.com Subject: Signal at Routes 9 & 448 Thread-Topic: Signal at Routes 9 & 448 Date: Wed, 1 Jul 2015 18:22:28 +0000 Dear Mr. Convissor: This is in response to your correspondence dated May 26, 2015, regarding the traffic signal on Route 9 at Route 448, Village of Sleepy Hollow in Westchester County. Under current policy, the detection system is required to detect cars and motorcycles. The existing equipment at this location is unable to detect bicycles. On June 10, 2015 the loop on Hudson Terrace was repaired and is detecting traffic again. If any sensors stop working in the future they will be repaired or replaced as necessary. The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will study the signal timing at this intersection and make changes to the pedestrian phasing/timing as needed. All of the current crosswalk signs will be replaced this summer with larger signs that include arrows pointing to the correct crosswalk. If you have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact our Regional Traffic Safety & Mobility Group, at (845) 437-3396. Sincerely, William J. Gorton, P.E. Regional Director
