First, there will be two independent groups of messages: "motd-system" & "motd-social". Users will be allowed to suppress social MOTD if they are so desire. Second, two newsgroups will be created: panix.motd-system & panix.motd-social. Third, there will be two mailing lists: motd-system & motd-social. Messages will be posted simultaneously into motd, news & m/list. There could be some possible exceptions to this rule, which, if implemented, will suppress MOTDs from news &/or e-mail. We'll discuss this at the later date. This new MOTD system, if my estimation is accurate, will go into effect within the next week to two. Mailing lists, I've mentioned earlier, are already in existence, but aren't emiting just yet. If you wish to become a subscriber, please do the following (& do it now): send e-mail addressed to "listproc@panix.com" or just "listproc" (no quotes), subject doesn't matter. For "motd-system" include the line that reads: subscribe motd-system Your_Full_Name_Not_E-mail_Address Example: subscribe motd-system Mikhail Kuperblum For "motd-social" include line that reads: subscribe motd-social Your_Full_Name_Not_E-mail_Address Example: subscribe motd-social Mikhail Kuperblum At this point I'm not clear if you can subscribe to both lists with a single e-mail message, or need to send two separate messages. Staff? To unsubscribe send a message (subject doesn't matter) to "listproc" with the line that reads: unsubscribe motd-system or unsubscribe motd-social (Comments are welcomed.) -- Mikhail Kuperblum [mikhail@panix.com]
