Message Banners

Lists have the option of top and/or bottom banners. Every single message
gets a top banner. Bottom banners are on individual messages and not
included in a digest. (Digests can have a top banner using the DIGEST-H
file.) Typically, the top banner would be used for a copyright or short
legal warning which absolutely has to be seen by each and every reader. The
bottom banner could contain instructions for signing off the list, a
disclaimer, an acknowledgement of a sponsor's contribution, a "tip of the
week", etc.

Banner control is from optional sections in the list's MAILTPL file. These
sections begin with:

>>> BOTTOM_BANNER

For a general discussion of implementing a MAILTPL file send in the command
GET OWNR-FAQ.MTPL to LISTSERV@MAELSTROM.STJOHNS.EDU. Also see owner's
manual section 9.7.1 for a discussion on banners. Often lists have the
bottom banner rotate. Below are examples. You can modify them to suit your
needs. First a top banner example:
