December 3, 1995 - Synchronization software from Ives Development will make it possible to deploy Lotus Development Corp.'s Notes applications in mobile environments that use the Newton MessagePad. In January, the British company -- which makes products that integrate Lotus Notes with relational database products -- plans to ship software that connects Apple Computer Inc. MessagePads to integrated Notes database environments. With the product, users will be able to send Notes mail from the Newton and synchronize information between the Newton and corporate Notes databases or their desktop Notes clients, the company said. The TeamAgent software, which includes a host and Newton client software for about $150 per user, will operate across serial or modem connections. Final pricing has not been set, the company said. TeamAgent users can standardize information between the Newton and their desktop computers. Newton users with serial connections can also synchronize files with corporate hosts once they have connected to their desktop PCs. Users who connect to corporate LANs via dial-up connections will be able to directly access and exchange data with the corporate hosts, the company said. TeamAgent can be configured to synchronize information between any Lotus Notes and Newton databases but comes ready to coordinate mail, the date book, and address file information. TeamAgent requires the Newton 2.0 OS. Ives Development, a division of Ives & Co., is setting up its U.S. headquarters in Wakefield, Mass.
