When the windows with the phone symbol and the connect text displays, select the phone symbol and at the letter 'P' (without quotes) in front of your phone number !!! This will force the modem to dial pulse. NIE dials ATDxxxx and with this addition it dials ATDP(!)xxxx This works for me !!
