PalmHack IV Winners
- Honorable disqualification, and a LandWare goVox voice recorder, goes to Thomas McCormick for his Springboard linear flash hack. This was disqualified for being (A) useful, and (B) written before PalmSource.
- Another honorable disqualification, for the best alcohol-related software, and a copy of Pocket Palette by Extended Technology Systems, goes to Drinks Tray. (Author, please contact me, or at least Extended Technology.)
- The award for the Evilest Social Engineering Hack, and a giant inflatable Palm V plus a LandWare GoType Keyboard, goes to Marshall Clow for Gift Enabler.
- The award for the quickest copy-cat hack, and the other giant inflatable Palm V plus a LandWare GoType Keyboard, goes to Douglas Anderson's instantaneous reimplementation of Gift Enabler using RsrcEdit. (And also TaxiChange.)
- The award for the hackiest use of iNetLib (though losing points for potential usefulness and a slight head start), plus a LandWare GoType Keyboard, goes to Ben Combee for VChat.
- The runner-up, and the award for best use of Bluetooth, and a Handspring Prism, goes to David Tribble & Karl-Koenig Koenigson for Bluetooth Daleks.
- The Grand Prize winner of a Symbol SPT 1740 with a WaveLink Studio 5-user license is the VirtMed IR & Bluetooth HackTractor.

The fourth annual PalmHack programming contest is hereby
announced. Entries need not be HackMaster Hacks, and will be judged on
the basis of frivolity, originality, and hackishness. Entries must be
emailed to flash@pobox.com before 1 AM
PST on the last day of PalmSource, December 15th; entries including
hardware which cannot be emailed must be demoed in the PalmSource Lab by
10 PM, Thursday December 14th. The top two prizes are restricted to
PalmSource attendees, and entries must have been written during
PalmSource.The judges will be Kenneth Albanowski, JB Parrett, David
Kammer, Flash Sheridan, and Bruce Thompson. Prizes include:
- A Symbol SPT 1740 with WaveLink Studio 5-user license
- A Handspring Prism
- Three LandWare GoType keyboards
- Two LandWare goVox voice recorders
- Pocket Palette by Extended Technology Systems
Results will be announced during the 8:30 AM keynote session on Friday,
