This is one of the Academy's earliest reports. We are not confident that these early reports are accurate. Please use it with caution.

Greetings,

According to the SCA rules, there is a conflict between "Sable, a maple leaf argent" and "Sable, on a maple leaf argent a magpie gules." We think there is a good chance that we can find the person who owns the device yours conflicts with; if we can find them there is a chance that they will give you permission to conflict with their device.

Alternatively, you could change the color of the field or use three maple leaves instead of one.

There is no record of maple leaves being used in medieval heraldry, but other leaves are known to have been used in period heraldry. In a simple device (such as yours) a maple leaf is a plausible charge, especially if it is related to your name.

I hope this has been helpful. If we can do anything else to assist you, please let us know.

In service,
Alan Fairfax
