Greetings,

According to "The New American Dictionary of First Names" by Dunkling and Gosling, the name "Dorian" was first used in Oscar Wilde's story "The Picture of Dorian Grey." We looked through other name sources, and didn't find any examples of "Dorian." The name has been returned by the SCA College of Arms in the past because it could not be documented to period.

We would be happy to help you find another name. You'll have more success finding a period name if you find a culture and/or time period that interests you, and look for a name for that specific time and place. If you have some ideas, we can even provide suggestions for cultures that might interest you.

Elsbeth Anne Roth and Tangwystl verch Morgant Glasvryn researched your name.

If there's anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

In service,
Alan Fairfax
