Greetings,

Here's the information we found on the name "Elaine de Rien."

We haven't found an actual example of a historical person named "Elaine." There are two characters named "Elaine" in Arthurian stories, but apparently the name didn't become popular in England until 1859, when Tennyson's version of the story of Lancelot and Elaine was published. (1)

However, we have examples of people who were named after major characters in popular romances in the Middle Ages. There's a reasonable possibility that someone could have named a daughter after Elaine, even though we don't have a citation for the name.

We didn't find any examples of the name "de Rien." We found a place called "Riencourt," (2), which could give rise to the surname "de Riencourt." We also found the name "Riendonnant," (giving-nothing), a nickname for a miser. You could use either of these as last names.

We also looked for French names or armory which would indicate that you were adopted. We didn't find anything, but it might be possible for you to choose arms which would refer to your origin. For example, it was believed that a tiger was so vain that by giving a mother tiger a mirror, one could steal her kits. Thus, a tiger might be an appropriate charge for your arms. If you were interested, we could suggest other armory which might be appropriate for your persona.

We hope this has been helpful. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.
