ACADEMY OF SAINT GABRIEL REPORT 1062 http://www.s-gabriel.org/1062 ************************************ 10 Aug 1998 From: Jodi McMaster Greetings from the Academy of S. Gabriel! You asked about the heraldic usage of the wolverine (also known as "jaerv" in Swedish or "gulo gulo" in Latin) and where you could find a picture of one. We do not recall having seen a heraldic version of the wolverine. However, other related animals are used in armory, especially if they canted (punned) on the bearer's name, such as the marten or the ermine. For good sources of pictures of heraldry, see the bibliography listed at: http://www.itd.umich.edu/~ximenez/s.gabriel/docs/#mischerald We're sorry we weren't able to give you more information. Comments and research for this letter were provided by Lindorm Eriksson, Zenobia Naphtali, Aryanhwy Prytydes merch Catmael Caermyrdin, Talan Gwynek and Arval Benicouer.
