Greetings,

Here's the information we found on the name "Ansfrid."

We were able to find several examples of the name "Ansfridus" recorded from the 10th to the 13th centuries. Since records in this time were kept in Latin, it is more than reasonable to asusme that this is a Latin form of the name "Ansfrid."

It's important to understand that "Dutch" did not exist as a cultural group at this time. The Dutch language didn't appear in writing until about 1000, and it wasn't until 1200 that Dutch names began to be used. 1200 also saw the first development of powerful nobles in the region. "Ansfrid" is a Frankish name that was used in the Low Countries, including the area now known as the Netherlands.

We hope this has been helpful. If we can be of any further assistance, please let us know.

In service,
Alan Fairfax
