ACADEMY OF SAINT GABRIEL REPORT 1528 http://www.s-gabriel.org/1528 ************************************ 30 Mar 1999 From: (Josh Mittleman) Greetings from the Academy of Saint Gabriel! You asked for information about the feminine name . Here is what we have found. or was a saint, martyred in Rome in the 3rd century. The name is in use in modern Italy, particularly in Tuscany and the March of Ancona (central Italy) [1], so it may perhaps have been in occasional use in Italy throughout our period. However, we have not found a period example so we cannot recommend it as the best re-creation. We found no evidence of the name in any other language. We did find examples of in early 9th century France and in late 16th century England and Flanders [2, 3, 4]. We hope this letter has been useful. Please write us again if any part of it has been unclear or if you have other questions. I was assisted in researching and writing this letter by Maridonna di Benvenuto, Talan Gwynek, Pedro de Alcazar, Walraven van Nijmegen.
